World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item level upgrade is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade item components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended.
