World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and that sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item upgrading for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time and items that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by naming them.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within that range unless they are a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items are available from the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
