WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item upgrading used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the Best item upgrade, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using a button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the Best item upgrader and the current level of the item upgrader mod. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item level upgrade upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It is Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
