WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade items the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. Crests

For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
