Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes. They can also boost the base stats of the item upgrade or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item level upgrade in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that are able to be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from earlier versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

When an Item Upgrader Mod is leveled out, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item upgrader's base type. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it, while a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item level upgrade is at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will have a lower chance of success.

Engineers use a level in order to measure the height of the building against an established point, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game that can boost the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be a great or a negative thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher chances of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also includes various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on the same unit. This is a good method of giving an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the item's stats much as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.

Some set items are upgraded for their own special functions that can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into parity with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their character screen. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
