World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as you can to level 15.

In the final game you'll find that the best way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Each item level requires a different amount of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed upgrade items Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. The item upgrade will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits water. This item can be upgraded multiple times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is very useful in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades.
